AUSTIN, TX – The City of Austin Employees Retirement System (COAERS) is pleased to announce the selection of Meketa Investment Group as its new General Investment Consultant following a comprehensive Request for Proposal (RFP) process. This strategic decision aligns with the System’s ongoing commitment to its members to provide their promised benefits through prudent, effective, and best-in-class investment management.

COAERS issued the RFP in January due to the pending expiration of outgoing consultant RVK’s contract. The rigorous RFP process attracted proposals from several esteemed firms. After an extensive six-month due diligence review, careful evaluation of firm expertise, track records, and strategic vision, the COAERS Board approved Meketa as the final choice to guide the next phase of the System’s investment program, optimize the investment portfolio, and achieve its long-term growth objectives.

"We are delighted to partner with Meketa, whose reputation for excellence and as a leader in investment management will be instrumental in enhancing the continued growth of the COAERS fund," said Christopher Hanson, COAERS Executive Director. "Their expertise will play a critical role in navigating the complexities of today's financial markets and ensuring the best outcomes for our members."

Meketa will provide comprehensive investment consulting services, including investment strategy, portfolio analysis, strategic asset allocation, risk management, and performance monitoring. In collaboration with the COAERS Board and investment staff, Meketa is expected to bring significant value to the retirement system, ensuring that investments continue to meet and serve the long-term interests of the members, and consistently and sustainably achieve best-in-class results.
